DISCLAIMER!!!! NOT RESPONSIBLE!!!

I just want to thank Drew for allowing myslef to sacrifice my body for the better part of himself! Look, I'm a little bitter right now because last night was not one of my better nights.

I'd like to start off with all I wanted to do was sit in peace, drink my pepsi and check my scores on my cellphone. But Mr. Ali Solis had a different idea in mind. Bottom of the 3rd, Ali is at the plate and Airstil lets go of a fastball. Ali turns on it and pulls it in Drew and Myself's section. Needless to say, you're never safe anywhere in a  ball park. I had two deceisions to make, let the ball just take its toll on my back or try to dodge it.......I went with plan B. So much for that plan

An 85 mph ball is harder to dodge than you think! Yep, so I just pretty much wore it in the left thigh. I'm so happy, because the hardest ball Ali has hit all season was a "screamer" into my body. NBD!

Then we had tarp pull as well because of the rain that never ever came! (thats what she said!!) Yes, we had to pull tarp for a glorious 30 minute rain delay! But its all good, we managed to amuse ourselves while we waited out on the field! I mean hey, it could have been worse, check this hommie out! haha

Anyways, the moral of this post is to always be on your feet! Whether you be sitting down or pulling tarp, be aware or you might be wearing a two week "Rawlings Offical Texas League" stitched tattoo! haha

Or you might just be caught off guard like I was!

LOOK AT YOURSELF KENNY!

Oh boy oh boy! Our second day game of the season has just come to an end and wow was it hot out! I literally could feel myself just marinating in the summer sun. At one point today I thought I could smell the hair just burning off of my olive tanned arms! If only my whole body could be ask dark as my face and arms, we would be golden! So because it was  day game, the front office had to be here at 8:30 this morning. Of course my alarm goes off at 7 buuuutttt I think I hit my snooze button about 4 times. By the time I got out the door, it was 7:45. Ok so I know i put deoderent on and I know I brushed these pearly whites but OH NO! No shave and what to do with this hair do!?!?! I know exactly what to do with it........nothing! Lets just say I looked like this when I strolled through that office door

Soooo pretty much all day I just kept the same style, but I do think its time for haircut. Well its a short blog today, just thought I would check in with everybody. Hope yall have a good rest of the week.

Later Vader,

"J"ust "U'nderstand it "N"ever "E"nds ....

Yes people, I'm already discussing June. Why? Because the summer months are fast approaching and all I can think about is how busy life will be in one month. As kids we all fantasize about having our dream job and what it will be like. Well, fortunately for us big kids out of college its all about getting into a career that you spent thousands of dollars preparing for.

Well here I am, working in the baseball field. Something I always wanted to do, buuutttt "why are my days sooo long?!?!" Dont get me wrong, I love it. Who gets to say "Oh, I work at a baseball park for a living." Not a lot of people. But outside of the game notes, post-game interview, grill top throw down, and those hippitie hops (don't ask) I too have a life.

Yes outside this baseball madness, I have  pile of clean and not so clean laundry just forming to carpet at home. I have a dog who doesnt know me, a love life I feel l will never get off the ground, and a brand new truck that has "wash me" written on the back window from smart ass people aka "these crows". HAHA and its only May!

So lets get into June shall we. We have a 4,6, and 8 game homestand through this dreadful month and not to mention our 75th Texas League All-Star Game on the 29th. If you would like tickets feel free to call me. I'll have an air matress under my desk that i'll be living on. I can always be reached! And then to top it off i'll be on the road with the team as well. So lets see, one day off in June and its a Saturday. My dog is going to dis-own me!

But you know what?

I wouldn't trade it for anything! I work with some really great people who always make the day seem to go by quicker and not to mention the team. What a great group of dudes. Whenever I'm in the clubhouse I never feel like a straanger. You can feel the comradarie and the family they have all become. Cudos to these guys for being 5 games ahead and continuing to put mad runs up on the board. Its nice to be apart of something when everything is going well. Thats about it for me today... I want to leave you guys with my song of the day as well as my quote. Just little things to remember.

"There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit"

Sucka, What!?!?

America 1 - Terrorists 0 ........ ZING!!

So not only was Monday a big win for the Missions but for America! Just thought I would use my creativity today and come up with a clever post!
I was watching ESPN highlights and they showed the Phillies and Mets game, then the camera panned the crowd and revealed everyone going crazy when they announced bin laden was killed (By Navy Seals) Please anyone?!?! Tell me, whats more American than being at a baseball game shouting USA! USA! because we finally got the one man who took the lives of many brave Americans?!!? NOTHING!!

Heres to you Henry You Puffy Taco!

Thanks for doing whatever it is you do!?!

"What is with this life I live!?"

No no no. I know your first thought was "Oh great! Another blogger with some type of sob story." This blog is far from that. In fact I love my life and think have it made. The title of this blog is in regards to a friend of mine "that Logan Davis!" which I will get back to later on.  See, I created this blog to talk about my life in the world of Minor League Baseball. I wanted to rant and rave about all the "shenanigans" that take place in the front office as well as in the club house, the early mornings tarp parties and the " Come June, I've decided to make my permanent residency here at the stadium, sleeping on the club house couch" kind of life.

My journey began when I started working for the Corpus Christi Hooks Baseball Club. I was well into my junior year at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi "Go Ders!" when a good friend of mine mentioned an internship opening up with a minor league team. So I jumped on it and I had no idea what I was in for. I grew up playing baseball in the small town of Helotes, Texas. A town so small that boys I played with in t-ball I still played with in high school. I feel like I'm getting off subject here so lets get back on track. So after that first season  I knew minor league baseball was right up my alley. Well here I am, three years and another club later I'm still loving what I do. But what makes this year so special is the team and the staff I work with. Lets just say this staff is unlike any group I have been with before, but I feel like that for a later blog because I will more than likely talk about everyone later (in a good way though).

Anyways, we are now four weeks into the season and just ended our first 8 game home stand as we are now 5 games ahead in the Texas League. Yes, for those of you not aware, we are in first place. And our boys are just raking right now. If you ever get confused with my lingo, please feel free to ask. Believe me there is a story for it and I'm not some crazy uneducated red neck from Texas. Sorry my first blog was a novel, I'm just trying to give everyone who's reading this an understanding of where I'm coming from. One more thing before I go, you probably asked "whats the deal with the title?" Well, this past Tuesday we had our first afternoon game at 11:05 a.m. This means we had to be in the office at "8:30ishh?" Of course being young adults we don't go to bed until early in the morning, especially when we don't leave the office till midnight. The next morning when we are all in the office looking like hell crap, Mr. Davis comes into the office and stops. Then with a groggy and confused look he asks "What is with this life I live!?!" This life my friend is the life of working in minor league baseball.

Until next time,

Kent
